Children's Book Illustrations
When a single image can tell a story.
Illustration extends a text, it describes it, makes it beautiful and gives it glow and prestige. Illustration is everywhere: children's books, sketches, cover essays, personal work, catalogs, stamps, greeting cards or announcements. Sometimes alone in a book, without text, the illustration takes the reader into the wonders of a simple and wonderful graphic storytelling. Punctuating dictionaries, alphabet books and picture books elsewhere, the illustration maintains an intimate and complementary dialogue with the text.
There are multiple techniques for producing an illustration: with a pencil, paint, scissors or a computer, it is descriptive, naive, or abstract from within a book and is fascinating right from the front cover!
We look at an illustration like we open a book, or as we read a story. These stories and images fill our minds with memories for life. As children, we take advantage of these visual stimuli to better invent, imagine and dream.
What if we were to take the pictures out of the books? What if you touched their texture and felt their paint under your fingertips? What if we covered the walls of our homes with them?
What if the lines between illustration for children and art for adults did not exist? Children's illustration takes us from the world of childhood to adulthood and vice versa.
Illustrate your walls with paintings from beautiful books, everyone will stop for a thought, a dream or the memory of a book.
